"Bridging the Ice is a complex and satisfying mix of the grim and the lighthearted. I watched in awe and horror as this wonderful, gripping, gruelling film unfolds the tale of The British Arctic Air Route Expedition"
"The film is a meditation on why they, and explorers in general, put themselves in such lethal places, suggesting that the risk and extremity that they face, give life an intensity that nothing else can offer."
- Susie Hamilton, Explorer August Courtauld’s Daughter
Produced by the Watkins family, Bridging The Ice is a documentary based on the life and work of British explorer Gino Watkins, leader of the British Arctic Air Route Expedition. Before his untimely death at age 25 in Greenland, the Royal Geographical Society believed him to be the natural successor to Sir Ernest Shackleton.
